Overview

The 3-Day First Aid at Work Course is a comprehensive and in-depth training program designed to provide participants with extensive knowledge and practical skills in administering first aid. This multi-day course offers a more thorough exploration of first aid principles, techniques, and scenarios, making it suitable for individuals who require a more in-depth understanding of emergency response.

Course Contents

  • Understand the role and responsibility of a first aider
  • Be able to assess an incident
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Recognize and assist a casualty who is choking
  • Manage a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Manage a casualty who is in shock
  • Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  • Be able to conduct a secondary survey
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with the following; injuries to bones, muscles and joints, suspected head and spinal injuries, suspected chest injury, burns and scalds

Structure of Emergency first aid Training

To achieve the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF), learners must achieve 2 credit from the two mandatory units. This qualification is not graded successful learners achieve a pass.

Learner Entry Requirements for Emergency First Aid

There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at level 2 or above. They must be physically capable of completing the practical activities involved.

Re-Qualifying First Aid

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF) certificates are valid for 3 years. In order to re-qualify after 3 years, learners would be assessed against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the units. Learners would require re-qualify prior to the expiry of their held qualification.

Who is it for?

Learners who achieve the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF) can progress to other qualifications in the sector, including the Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (QCF), the Level 2 Award in Paediatric Emergency First Aid (QCF) and the Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF).

Certification

Assessment

The assessment for this course is on a continual basis for the practical aspect and demonstration of the required skills. There is also a formal written assessment covering the required knowledge outcomes for the day.
