Overview

Hundreds of workers in the UK are being killed, injured, or suffer from work-related illnesses every year while performing their jobs; thus, health and safety is a very critical concern. The employers, employees, and government all play an important role in reducing workplace accidents, fatalities, and health risks.

The Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course is intended for those who are just entering the construction industry. This course may be used as part of an induction process or to prepare for the accredited examination. Although this course is a recognized qualification in its own right, it also forms part of your application for the CSCS Green Card.

The course introduces legislation related to health and safety, followed by basic principles of risk assessment and safe working practices. It also covers common hazards in construction, such as working at height, respiratory risks, electrical and chemical hazards that are part of the knowledge important to help make the work environment safer.

Learner Entry Requirements

No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification.

Further Progression

Learners who have achieved the Award can progress to a range of Pearson BTEC Level 2 qualifications, including:

  • Pearson Edexcel Level 2 NVQs in Construction and the Built Environment.
  • Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction Occupations.
